As many of you probably know, asparagus is one of those foods that can be so dang tasty when it is cooked properly, but can also be disgusting when done improperly. Maybe you tried it at home once and didn’t quite get it right. Don’t worry. There aren’t too many people in the world who can cook it without lots of instruction. I’m here to help and you’ll soon be having one of the greatest vegetable side dishes in the culinary world right at home.
First off, let me just make it clear that there are many ways to make asparagus, but a great deal of them involve a varying sauce. The basics are almost always a choice of a select few cooking processes, though, so once you know those, you can feel free to experiment with different seasonings and such.
What you’ll need:
Asparagus (10 or more)
2/3 cup of melted butter
2 tablespoons of parmesan cheese
A couple of pinches of salt
A pinch of pepper
Two tablespoons of olive oil (for boiling with)
½ a cup of olive oil (for searing in a pan with)
What you’ll do:
First, you’re going to start by boiling some water with a pinch of salt and two tablespoons of olive oil for your asparagus. Then, you’re going to mix the melted butter, the parmesan cheese, the pepper, and a pinch of salt and warm this mixture a tiny bit more than the heat from the melting of the butter. This is the dressing.
Next, throw your asparagus in the water, (preferably just before it boils), and leave it until it becomes tender. You want it to be quite tender for this recipe, because we are then going to throw the asparagus in a pan with the rest of the olive oil. When your asparagus is almost ready, place your skillet on the stove and warm the rest of the olive oil in it. You may now drain your asparagus water and bring the veggie back to the skillet. We are going to fry it up a tiny bit and you may season it a bit more if you’d like. After all of this is done, plate your asparagus and drizzle your yummy dressing on top.
