Organic Foods

The word ‘organic’ is tossed around by everyone these days.  More consumers are making the choice to switch to organic foods, a choice that is often more expensive and, to many people, totally worth the higher grocery budget.

Many studies have shown than organic foods may not offer more nutrients than their ‘inorganic’ counterparts, but that isn’t why most people switch to organic foods.

  • In order to be called organic, foods must meet certain requirements set forth by the USDA, including:
  • Free of antibiotics and growth hormone
  • Free of conventional pesticides, synthetic pesticides, or bioengineering
  • Has been inspected by the USDA
