What Food Allergies Might Be Doing To Your Body
Most people don’t think that food allergies are that big of a deal unless you have a very dangerous one (like a nut allergy for example) that could send you into some kind of shock or make you keel over within just a few minutes. Other than that we don’t seem to pay much attention to them but it turns out they can actually be the source of a lot of our day to day problems. The thing with food allergies is that they’re so tied into your gut and your whole intestinal system that if something goes wrong in that part of your body it can have a huge effect on the rest of you. Your body is all intricately tied up together so what affects your digestion system affects your immune system, your hormones, your body’s detox capabilities and a whole host of other aspects of your body. That’s why it’s so important to be aware of what foods you’re allergic to - even if it’s just to a small degree because they can have lots of effects in other parts of your body without you realizing it.
For example food allergies can prevent you from losing weight, can cause joint pain, fatigue, acne, and chronic inflammation and all of it is because of how your gut works. What happens is that inside your gut you have a large amount special bacteria and flora - all of which work in different ways in order to keep your body healthy and functioning. Some of these control different hormones and glands, others help digest your food, and others protect your organs and intestines and keep them healthy and running. There’s no shortage of jobs that these little bugs do and while some of them are bad - most of them are good and help our bodies out.
The problem with these little bugs is what happens when they react with certain foods we eat - bad foods mainly. High fat and high sugar diets can cause a lot of problems for our intestines this way and they can cause the little bugs to go into defense mode. When that happens our immune system gets weakened and so does our intestines which means some of those bugs and particles of food we eat can end up passing through our gut (leaky gut syndrome) and ending up in other parts of our body like our blood. When that happens these toxins that are absorbed into your system and our bloodstream inflame our bodies and cause insulin resistance. These little particles and bugs can trigger alarms in our body that send antibodies to attack them. The antibodies learn these bugs and particles of food and build defenses against them (even if they aren’t necessarily harmful to us) which gives us an allergic reaction to them each time we eat that substance. It’s something that can become a big problem and the best way to solve it is to switch over to a whole foods diet that won’t trigger those allergens. Good luck!
