Smoothies For Your Health
While most people have heard of the raw food diet and are familiar with its link to juicing lots of fruits and vegetables something that may be even more beneficial to a person is drinking smoothies. Now obviously you don’t want to head down to the local snow cone shack and get a smoothie that is filled with chocolate, ice cream, and lots of sugar because that won’t do you any good regardless of whether or not its blended. The idea here is to be able to get lots of fruits and vegetables in a smoothie and preferably drink it in the morning as a way to start out your day. That’s right - you want both fruits and vegetables in your smoothies. Now that may sound gross to be blending up cucumbers, spinach, broccoli and kale, and it will certainly give your smoothie a bright green color, but it’s actually one of the best things that you can do for yourself. Having a large amount of greens in your diet makes a huge difference in the overall state of your health and it’s a big factor in whether or not you are susceptible to a wide variety of diseases. It can actually reverse many conditions as well - as has been shown in many studies.
It’s usually raw food advocates that are in support of people drinking “green smoothies” every day but even people who are following more conventional diets have found them to be extremely beneficial. Many people have found conditions like arthritis, problems with stomach acid, diseases like diabetes and so forth, were all greatly improved or eliminated with just the addition of green smoothies to their diets. It’s believed that a diet high in these kinds of greens can be a substantial improvement to your overall health and many in the raw food culture swear by the addition of green smoothies to their morning routines. It’s essential that these smoothies be consumed prior to eating (especially if you are eating cooked or unhealthy food) because your body needs to be able to digest and absorb those before it has to deal with any other food that you may be putting into it. This is a key point for the use of green smoothies in your diet so make sure to remember it. Many people also like to use green smoothies to add various supplements or super-foods to their diet on a daily basis. Certain powders, minerals, and so forth can easily be blended into a green smoothie which makes them a lot easier to digest and much more pleasant to eat than if they were just eaten or taken on their own.
Most peoples hang-ups with green smoothies are due to the fact that they don’t look very appetizing and that because it’s all blended vegetables most people think they’re going to taste pretty awful as well. In some cases this might be a bit of a problem because there are smoothie recipes that are straight up kale with a bit of ginger and that’s it and those can be pretty intense but for the most part green smoothie recipes are designed to have lots of ingredients in them that make them taste better than they would if it was just plain vegetables. Typically a green smoothie will have lots of fruit added into it to combat the taste of just vegetables. Because fruit often has a much stronger taste it usually doesn’t take a whole lot to be able to turn a green smoothie into something that is very yummy and very good for you! Make an effort to include green smoothies in your diet and you’ll be much better off than you were before! Good luck!
