Nutrition And Healthy Food

The more our society learns about what it means to eat and be healthy the more confused we seem to become. Many people turn to nutrition to answer their questions about what they should and shouldn’t eat but the subject of nutrition as we know it today has become extremely twisted and warped by the self-serving agendas of large food companies who put spins on the research (and sometimes outright lie about facts and figures) in order to make the results promote more of their products. This is apparent in big industries like the dairy and meat who constantly promote the idea that milk is necessary for strong bones and that meat is essential for protein - both of which are ridiculously untrue claims. Even in modern day colleges and medical schools nutrition isn’t high on the list of required classes and that’s if it’s even taught at all. Many degrees don’t require it and the few places that it is taught often use a syllabus based off of misleading myths and false research. This is alarming for a country that claims to be on the cutting edge in the medical and science fields. If we can’t even manage to teach basic nutrition properly how can we ever expect ourselves to be able to keep our country healthy?

What’s remarkable is the fact that in the vast and ever-reaching medical industry we have - nutrition, the basic science of eating healthy food, isn’t payed the slightest bit of attention to. Most doctors aren’t even trained in nutrition. In our modern day medicine practice doctors are trained to recognize disease, and then treat it with drugs and surgery. The foreign concept of living a holistic, and nutritionally sound lifestyle as a form of preventative and even restorative medicine holds no ground here. This isn’t the fault of doctors or teachers it’s simply a result of the negative propaganda they’ve been exposed to as they have lived in America and since they haven’t been trained in any of the sciences of nutrition all they know how to do is prescribe drugs to treat symptoms of illnesses that could easily be fixed and prevented by eating a healthy, natural diet.

It’s been shown that eating healthy foods and living a generally holistic lifestyle is really the key to key to living longer, preventing disease, and ensuring that you stay healthy overall. Simply cutting back on meat, dairy, and eggs can make a huge difference as humans really aren’t designed to be able to digest and make good use of these foods. By focusing on eating lots of fruits and vegetables we can ensure that your bodies are getting all the nutrients they need as well as being able to cleanse and repair normally. Regular consumption of meat, processed snacks, sugary sodas and treats, and other similar “foods” can cause life long damage and can be a real problem for people who don’t know how to eat properly.

With so many conflicting studies and new research that’s published it can be hard to keep up with what is and isn’t good for you. The general rule of thumb should be this: eat food, mostly plants, and nothing that has chemicals in it. That means stick to fruits and vegetables as much as you possibly can. When you eat other foods make sure they’re natural, organic, and not processed or contaminated with chemicals, pesticides, and so forth. This includes the way that they are packaged, treated, shipped, stored, frozen, heated, saved, and so forth. If in doubt, pick something that you would be comfortable eating if you found it in the while. If you found a dead chicken on the side of the road somewhere would you eat it? Probably not. But if you found a nice raspberry bush or a patch of strawberries you’d probably have few qualms about digging in there. Ignore what big food companies say and use your instincts. Natural foods that you could grow yourself are the very best way to go about things and when it comes to nutrition you don’t need to take the hard route and count how many chips you’re eating out of the bag and what each one is in calories or grams of fat. Eat fruit and leafy vegetables - you can have as many of those as you want and still lose a bunch of weight if that is your goal. Don’t listen to the myths about protein, calcium, and so forth that the meat and dairy industry like to spread around - it’s nothing more than advertising to get you to buy things that truly aren’t good for your health.

Nutrition is not a difficult thing to master and if you just take the time to slowly ease yourself into a new way of eating you can prevent all kinds of diseases and even reverse the ones you might already have. It’s already been proved that diseases like diabetes, and heart disease can be reversed by a dramatic switch in the diet. If diseases such as these can be cured simply be returning the body’s natural diet then imagine how much good could be done not only for ourselves and our health but also for the health of the planet and the creatures on it. Making healthy and natural food choices by following the basic ideas of nutrition can make an enormous difference on the state of our planet and the quality of life of the people living on it. If everyone switched over to heating healthy good foods our world would be completely different. It takes far less of our resources to grown and deliver healthy food then it does to produce eggs and meat products for mass consumption and it’s much kinder to the environment overall when you factor in the results of transporting, packaging, storing, and selling such huge amounts of food.

Using nutrition to eat health foods and live a holistic lifestyle can make a big difference everywhere and it all begins with individual people that make better food choices. Keep that in mind the next time you decide what to eat.
