Food Or Drugs
We live in a society where people tend to want to take the easy way out most of the time. It’s this kind of mentality that makes our country so infatuated with things like diet pills, cardio machines, and weight loss programs. We are constantly trying to do things with the least amount of effort and the most amount of gain possible and it’s thinking like this that tends to get us in trouble. We’ve applied this kind of thinking to our food industry as well and it’s caused us some huge problems. The idea that has been so prevalent in the way we eat and prepare food is that minimal effort is best. Everything we buy in the grocery store is pre-cooked, pre-made, pre-baked, pre-processed, and pre-wrapped. It’s all designed to be cooked and eaten as quickly as possible and with the very least amount of effort we can manage - usually something along the lines of just adding water or just popping it in the microwave. This fast food kind of approach to eating and to our nutrition is a dangerous way to go about it simple because of the methods that are used to make the food and because of the attitude we take towards our health.
When it really comes down to it our abilities to keep our body healthy are completely dependent on the food that we eat. The food that we eat literally becomes part of the chemical composition of our DNA so it’s essential that we fill out bodies with good, nutritious food, and make sure that we’re eating a healthy diet. So when we start taking on this mentality of fixing everything with drugs and surgery we lose the ability to heal ourselves naturally and this is where real and serious disease becomes a problem. One of the huge problems with this is that drugs simply don’t do the job our bodies do of keeping us in balance the way our natural systems do. When we use drugs to chemically alter our systems they don’t respond in the same way and it doesn’t magically fix our bodies like we think it does.
There is however, an alarming new trend linking both of these unhealthy concepts. With so many conflicting studies and new research that’s published it can be hard to keep up with what is and isn’t good for you. The general rule of thumb should be this: eat food, mostly plants, and nothing that has chemicals in it. That means stick to fruits and vegetables as much as you possibly can. When you eat other foods make sure they’re natural, organic, and not processed or contaminated with chemicals, pesticides, and so forth. This includes the way that they are packaged, treated, shipped, stored, frozen, heated, saved, and so forth. If in doubt, pick something that you would be comfortable eating if you found it in the while. If you found a dead chicken on the side of the road somewhere would you eat it? Probably not. But if you found a nice raspberry bush or a patch of strawberries you’d probably have few qualms about digging in there. Ignore what big food companies say and use your instincts. Natural foods that you could grow yourself are the very best way to go about things and when it comes to nutrition you don’t need to take the hard route and count how many chips you’re eating out of the bag and what each one is in calories or grams of fat. Eat fruit and leafy vegetables - you can have as many of those as you want and still lose a bunch of weight if that is your goal. Don’t listen to the myths about protein, calcium, and so forth that the meat and dairy industry like to spread around - it’s nothing more than advertising to get you to buy things that truly aren’t good for your health.
With all of the recent controversy over fast food there is much in the works about people that need to have better eating habits and how companies should be held responsible for the foods they are serving the general public. Because of this criticism towards many fast food places there has now been a suggestion that they offer statin drugs along with fast food meals. These drugs are designed to keep cholesterol in check which means that they can supposedly reverse the dangerous effects of what might be happening to your body as you eat this awful food. However what really need to be addressed is the seriousness of how bad our food really must be. I mean if our food is so awful that it needs to followed with a pharmaceutical chaser then what exactly are we putting into our bodies? How can we be taking care of ourselves if the very food we eat - the fuel that is meant for us to stay alive and to build our bodies with is so bad that we need to follow it up with drugs to protect ourselves from it. Shouldn’t we, instead, not be eating that food and try for a healthier diet? What kind of state has our health care system come to if people are being advised to take drugs as opposed to just choose healthy food.
This is an alarming development and the fact that people would even consider following up this kind of food with drugs is an obvious sign that our ability to choose foods and make conscious decisions about our health has seriously degraded. We have to make sure that we are not only protecting ourselves from this kind of dangerous drug and chemical use but also that we aren’t pushing it on future generations or forcing them to live with the mistakes we have made. It has been shown that if you live a poor life in terms of health your three future generations will be affected by it. That means your great-grandchildren will be suffering from the mistakes you have made when it came to your eating habits. This is a terrifying concept and shouldn’t be easily dismissed.
What’s truly important is that we remember that our bodies are designed to run on food - healthy, natural, whole, nutritious food and that they certainly aren’t meant to be living off of drugs and surgery. The best way to be sure about this is to make a point of eating the very best you can, using natural methods to keep yourself healthy and definitely not using drugs to fix your bad eating habits or the health problems that result from them. This will only cause you more problems in the long run and is of great danger to your health and those of the people who will come after you. Make it a priority to take care of yourself this way and you’ll be far better off for it in the long run. Nutrition is not a difficult thing to master and if you just take the time to slowly ease yourself into a new way of eating you can prevent all kinds of diseases and even reverse the ones you might already have. It’s already been proved that diseases like diabetes, and heart disease can be reversed by a dramatic switch in the diet. If diseases such as these can be cured simply be returning the body’s natural diet then imagine how much good could be done not only for ourselves and our health but also for the health of the planet and the creatures on it. Making healthy and natural food choices by following the basic ideas of nutrition can make an enormous difference on the state of our planet and the quality of life of the people living on it. If everyone switched over to heating healthy good foods our world would be completely different. It takes far less of our resources to grown and deliver healthy food then it does to produce eggs and meat products for mass consumption and it’s much kinder to the environment overall when you factor in the results of transporting, packaging, storing, and selling such huge amounts of food.
Make it a real priority to ensure that you and the ones you love are eating the very best they can and not resorting to dangerous drugs to keep you health. This is of the utmost importance and nothing else will be able to provide you with a long and healthy life.
